Do I need the extension antenna?

The extension antenna is designed to be paired with orange-coloured Alert Labs sensors, instead of the standard antenna the sensor comes with. Most customers will only need the standard antenna, not the extension.

You will need this extension antenna if:

• Your orange-coloured sensor has poor cellular connectivity.
  If this applies to your sensor, it will be showing a steady or intermittent red light .
  You will also receive a notification from the Dashboard if it detects connectivity issues.

You will not need this extension antenna:

• For any companion (non-orange) sensors, such as Floodie.
• For an orange-coloured sensor that has a strong, reliable cellular signal.
  The sensor will have a green light on top if it has a good signal. You can also check the signal strength in the Dashboard once you've registered your sensor.
• Locations with absolutely no cellular coverage. 
  This antenna is meant to improve reception in weak coverage areas. It cannot create a connection where a network does not exist.
