Within the water usage tile in the Alert Labs Dashboard, you'll notice a section about '% on time.'
What does it mean? The '% on time' is the total percentage of a day (midnight - 11:59) that your property is using water.
The example to the right is showing a 8.4% on time. This means that the property has water running for 8.4% of the day, or just over 2 hours (24 hours x 8.4%).
We've found that a 10-30% on time is typical for a household without leaks. If you have an on time rate higher than 50%, we recommend reviewing your water usage or checking your property for leaks.
Different 'on time' numbers
There are two '% on time' numbers listed on your Dashboard.
- The one listed underneath the "water usage timeline" is based on the past 30 days of water use at your property.
- Farther down the page, you'll see another % on time listed. This one is only based on the past 7 days of water use.
It's not unusual for these number to differ: you may have a light week where you're away from home, or a heavy week when the weather is nice and the kids have water fights.
