How to check signal strength in AlertAQ

Identify sensors that have weak signals or are offline with the signal strength information in AlertAQ.

To view signal strength, go to the Sensors page.

On desktop, under the “Signal” column, you’ll see icons showing the combined signal strength of the Sensor Relay and the connected companion sensors .

Signal strength ranges from Good to Offline. 

Good

The sensor has a strong signal.

Weak

The sensor may experience delayed notifications or occasional offline events. 

Offline

The sensor is currently or frequently offline.

More Signal Information – Side Panel

To get more detailed information on the signal strength, click on the sensor you want to view. The information in the side panel varies depending on the type of sensor (Cellular or Companion).

Cellular Sensor

Signal Information. This is the same information as listed under the Signal column on the Sensors tab, i.e., the combined signal strength of cellular sensor and the companion sensor.

Last Reported Time. The most recent instance of a sensor checking in with AlertAQ. The time is listed in minutes, hours or days. If the device has never connected, the last reported time is “Unknown”.

Cell Signal. This icon indicates the strength of the connection between the cellular sensor (e.g., Sensor Relay) and the surrounding cellular towers. The more bars, the stronger the signal–just like how your smartphone displays signal strength.

Connected Devices. If the sensor you’re viewing is a cellular sensor (e.g., Sensor Relay), you can select a connected companion sensor from the dropdown menu to view its Device Signal, Signal Information, last reported time and other information.

Device Signal. (Note this icon only displays when a companion sensor is showing under Connected Devices). This icon indicates the strength of the connection between a companion sensor (Floodie, Flowie-O, Humie, Shuttie) and its connected cellular sensor (e.g., Sensor Relay). The more circles around the center dot, the stronger the signal.

Companion Sensor

The same information that is displayed for a cellular sensor is also shown for a companion sensor with one exception. Instead of Connected Devices, Connected to: shows you which cellular sensor the companion sensor is connected to (shown below as Sensor Relay 31) . Click or tap the link to go to the details page for that cellular sensor.
