Water meters are found in most residential and commercial buildings that use a public water supply system. These meters are designed to keep track of how much water is consumed by a particular household or business and are widely used for billing purposes by the local water agency. Water meters are also commonly used to sub-meter residential and commercial buildings. Common applications for sub-meters include irrigation, multi-family, and new development.
Our Flowie (indoor) and Flowie-O (outdoor) sensors work on most mechanical water meters, including billing and sub-meters.
Flowie is compatible with most meters on the market today. This includes popular brands Neptune, Sensus* (+ acquired brands Rockwell, Equimeter, and Invensys), MasterMeter, Badger, Mueller (+ acquired brand Hershey), among others.
Unsure whether your meter is compatible? Send a picture to our Support Team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Water meters are usually located in a basement or utility room. If you locate your main water shut off valve, it can often be along the pipe after that. Alternatively, your meter may be located in a pit/box somewhere near the property line. To locate an outdoor water meter, look for a box covered by a steel or plastic lid. Other common places for water meters are in the garage, basement washroom, or laundry room.
*Sensus Water Meters
Flowie and Flowie-O will support most Sensus positive displacement water meters. The exception is the Sensus iPERL® which is an ultrasonic meter. When customers encounter these meters, typically they install a positive displacement meter at their property and use Flowie-O on the new meter.
Speak with us about which meters are best for your property. We are a registered Neptune water meter reseller in Canada and can help connect you to our US partners to acquire the right meter hardware.
Flowie-O is also compatible with Sensus OMNI™ C2/F2/T2 water meters using the accessory Flowie-O pulse cable.
Note: The Flowie-O pulse cable does not work with the OMNI™ R2 water meter.
For property owners or managers that have the Sensus iPERL or OMNI R2 meter at your buildings, you can contact your water authority to replace it with a compatible positive displacement meter or Sensus OMNI meter.
OMNI™ and iPERL® are registered trademarks of Sensus.
