Water meters are found in most residential and commercial buildings that use a public water supply system. These meters are designed to keep track of how much water is consumed by a particular household or business and are widely used for billing purposes by the local water agency. Water meters are also commonly used to sub-meter residential and commercial buildings. Common applications for sub-meters include irrigation, multi-family, and new development.
Our Flowie (indoor) and Flowie-O (outdoor) sensors work on most mechanical water meters, including billing and sub-meters.
Flowie is compatible with most meters on the market today. This includes popular brands Neptune, Sensus* (+ acquired brands Rockwell, Equimeter, and Invensys), MasterMeter, Badger, Mueller (+ acquired brand Hershey), among others.

Water meters are usually located in a basement or utility room. If you locate your main water shut off valve, it can often be along the pipe after that. Alternatively, your meter may be located in a pit/box somewhere near the property line. To locate an outdoor water meter, look for a box covered by a steel or plastic lid. Other common places for water meters are in the garage, basement washroom, or laundry room.
*Sensus Water Meters
Flowie and Flowie-O will support most Sensus positive displacement water meters. The only exceptions are the Sensus iPerl which is and ultrasonic meter, and Sensus Omni series which are turbine technology meters. When customers encounter these meters, typically they install a positive displacement meter at their property and use Flowie on the new meter.
